The short version

You can talk to strangers on ChatNow without giving us a name, an email, or an account. We collect the smallest amount of information that keeps a live video service running and its matching pool safe, and we have no interest in building a dossier on you. This page explains what little we hold, why we hold it, and how you make it go away. If you only read one line: your conversations are between you and the person you met — not material we mine.

What we collect

Like any website, our servers process the technical basics: your IP address, device and browser type, and simple usage events such as a match starting or ending. If you open an optional account, we store the registration details you hand us — that is what makes call history, follows, and messages possible. If you buy coins, the transaction is handled by an external payment processor; your card number goes to them and never lands on ChatNow servers. We never ask for your real name, home address, or contact list — the product works without them, so we do not want them.

Camera and microphone

Video and audio travel as a live stream between you and your match — peer to peer, two endpoints, no audience. We do not record your calls, and there is no archive of past conversations to browse or leak. Your browser asks for camera and microphone permission only when you switch them on, and you can withdraw that permission at any moment in your browser settings. A chat you never turn your camera on for is a perfectly valid way to use ChatNow.

Cookies and similar storage

We use cookies for the unglamorous essentials: keeping sessions stable, remembering your preferences, and measuring site traffic in aggregate so we can tell which pages help people and which ones lose them. None of this tracks what you say in a chat, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers inside the product. You can block or clear cookies through your browser at any time; the core chat experience keeps working either way, which is exactly how we like it.

Your controls

Stay a guest and there is barely anything to control — close the tab and you are done. With an account, you can ask us to delete it, request a copy of the data attached to it, or correct something that is wrong. Deletion means deletion: once an account goes, its call history, follows, and message threads go with it. Every one of these requests goes to [email protected] and is handled by a person. Blocking and reporting other users works inside the chat itself, instantly, no email required.

How long we keep things

We hold data for as long as it has a job and no longer. Server logs rotate out on a short cycle. Moderation records stay while a report is being worked on and resolved. Account information remains until you ask us to remove it. Payment records are the one exception — our processor and the law decide how long those must exist, and that part is out of our hands. Keeping less is a deliberate choice: information we do not store cannot be stolen from us, sold by us, or handed to anyone.

No one under 18

ChatNow is an adults-only service, full stop. We do not knowingly collect data from minors, and accounts or sessions that appear to involve someone under 18 are removed when reported or detected — we would rather lose a signup than host a minor for a single chat. If you ever suspect you have been matched with a minor, use the report button immediately and end the conversation. Those reports go straight to the front of the moderation queue, and confirmed cases are escalated beyond a simple ban where the law requires it.

Changes and questions

When this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page and significant changes are announced on the site rather than edited in quietly. Continuing to use ChatNow after an update means you accept the revised policy; if a change ever asked more of you than you are willing to give, deleting your account remains the exit, one email with no retention pitch. Anything unclear, or any request about your own data, goes to [email protected] — and if you would rather see how little the site needs from you, start a chat as a guest and watch it ask for nothing.
